Our analysis

A genuinely fun and immersive tactical strategy game built on a simultaneous-turn WeGo system, splitting play between a tabletop layer of defending the 12 colonies, leveling officers, and unlocking blueprints, and detailed 3D fleet battles with fog of war and positional depth. Watching the cinematic real-time replays of your own battles is a highlight, backed by great sound. It can get repetitive with similar engagements and feels a touch shallow, with a smaller tabletop and only seven ships per fight, but it is one of the better strategy games around and well worth a buy.
