BioShock is a masterpiece every gamer should play, with timeless art, an immersive Rapture, and rich storytelling. Its varied combat and player freedom remain compelling despite minor control and balance flaws.
Our analysis
BioShock is visually impressive, atmospheric and well written, but its streamlined systems and forgiving difficulty make it shallower than advertised. Its moral choices are blunt, and veterans of complex PC RPG shooters may be disappointed.
Overall, Bioshock is a super stylish game. It has excellent art and sound design, music, layered and interesting characters with great voice performances, but when it comes to the actual gameplay, I am pretty mixed on it. It's good overall, but points of it do feel like a downgrade of the game that came before it.
