Spiritual successor to classic Paper Mario with deeper characters, engaging combat, and exceptional writing. 45+ hours of content.

Our analysis

A superbly polished indie tribute to the first two Paper Mario games, with engaging turn-based combat, a compulsive card game, hidden secrets, smooth performance and a splendid soundtrack, though its sheer familiarity can feel wearying at times.

Our analysis

A faithful, unabashed homage to the classic Paper Mario games, swapping the cast for a party of adventuring insects while keeping the same puzzle platforming and timed-button turn-based combat. It captures the formula well and is a welcome substitute for a dormant franchise, but it stumbles on execution: some combat mini-games feel wonky, certain puzzles are fiddly, and the static, lightly animated paper cutouts lack the visual personality and organic touches that made the originals shine.
