A surprisingly enjoyable single-player campaign with the best graphics and sound experienced in a game, plus weighty, satisfying gunplay and varied, memorable missions like a tense night-vision infiltration. Player control is rarely stripped away for cutscenes, a long-standing series gripe finally fixed. Downsides are a short six-hour length, a few ludicrous or escort-heavy missions, and stuttering, skipping cutscenes on PC. Multiplayer killstreaks remain a turn-off.
