Contra: Rogue Corps

An unambiguously poor Diablo-style looter shooter that squanders the Contra name. Sluggish characters, repetitive death-march missions, recycled environments, and incomprehensible loot upgrades make it a tedious grind, worsened by a lives system and the inability to pause in single-player. The wacky cartoon story clashes badly with the slow, boring pace.

Nintendo Life gives 4/10 — good ideas wasted in a clunky, ugly twin-stick shooter; recommends Contra Anniversary Collection instead.
