The sequel keeps the satisfying plan-and-execute delivery core and adds compelling new traversal hazards like sandstorms, avalanches, and earthquakes, but it feels less arresting than the original. Familiar, slowly-doled-out story beats and a less compelling new cast disappoint, and an early flood of high-end vehicles, weapons, and gadgets strips away the friction and altruism that made the first game special, pushing it toward a more ordinary, action-focused experience.
