A worthy modern successor to Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that rises above the usual arena-fighter pitfalls. Its standout strengths are a surprisingly strategic combat system built around movement and generous counters, a gorgeous lighting-driven presentation, solid online netcode, and a story mode packed with fan-servicing what-if branches. Held back by an awful tutorial, cumbersome menus, and a roster where only about half of its 182 characters are truly unique.

A solid arena brawler with fun combat mechanics but disappointing technical execution on Switch 2. Significant visual and performance compromises compared to other platforms.
