A bold, streamlined entry that pares back the series' overwhelming complexity while keeping its dazzling, flashy battling, simplified Roman cancels, and a massive 28-character roster with all DLC included. The standout is the remarkable Switch port, running at a clean 60fps with polished rollback netcode; minor gripes include some cluttered backgrounds, lengthy pre-match intros, and a story mode bewildering to newcomers.

An excellent fighting game that makes complex mechanics accessible to casual players while maintaining depth for veterans. The roster is small but incredibly distinct, the presentation is gonzo and passionate, and the mechanics like Roman Cancel are genuinely fun.
