Our analysis

More a skill-based action game than a Dragon Quest RPG, this is one of the better Unreal Engine renditions on Switch, running at a locked 30fps with crisp visuals, short load times, and excellent voice-acted audio. The story works as a well-condensed abridgement of the anime that sets up nuanced, parry-and-dodge boss combat, though its linearity, repetition, and full price are likely to put some players off.
