A pleasant surprise that was enjoyable from start to finish, with improved controls, rewarding weapon and rig upgrades, no bugs, and plenty of content, though boss battles offer no tactical surprise. Not perfect, but well worth it on sale.

A derivative, boring slog that throws away the series' unique identity in favor of generic sci-fi action cobbled together from other games, feeling like Dead Space without horror and Aliens without excitement. The repetitive loop of fixing things and killing monsters is acknowledged as dull yet continues regardless, with derivative combat, clumsy cover mechanics, and a sluggish, underpowered mech. It was abandoned partway through rather than finished.
