A disappointing follow-up that swaps the original's tense asylum corridors for confusing outdoor wilderness where it's unclear where to run, turning hide-and-chase horror into trial-and-error annoyance. Aggressive early torture undercuts the tension, and the autosaves remove any real stakes. The pretentious religious imagery and a childhood-trauma subplot that never connects to the main story leave it muddled and unsatisfying.

The camera-and-night-vision survival gameplay, gorgeous mazelike environments, and excellent sound design instill real fear, while the cult-and-Catholic-school story goes to unexpected places. Repetitive trial-and-error stealth sequences are the main frustration.
