Our analysis

A polished, content-packed sequel to the Puyo Puyo and Tetris crossover, still great but not wildly different from the first game. The new Adventure mode delivers an entertaining, well-localized story with an open map and side quests, and the new Skill Battle adds welcome RPG-flavored depth. Drawbacks include recycled voice clips, an intrusive auto-difficulty system, and little genuinely new content, making it hard to justify for owners of the original.

Our analysis

A polished puzzle package that blends Tetris and Puyo Puyo across a wealth of modes, with the new Skill Battle and the tense Swap mode standing out and a comprehensive, snappy online suite as a major plus. The pick-up-and-play accessibility hides real competitive depth, and fusing the two games makes for a great multiplayer leveler. The catch: aside from Skill Battle most modes carried over from the first game, the chatty Adventure mode and repetitive voice lines wear thin, and owners of the original have little reason to buy in at full price.
