9 of 9A well-made, modernized platformer with excellent combat and impressive graphics. Story is lighter than the original series and some mechanics feel underutilized, but delivers fun polished gameplay at 10 hours.
An excellent platformer shooter with stunning graphics and creative dimensional rift mechanics. Fun combat and impressive set pieces, though it plays it somewhat safe with the core gameplay.
A beautiful PS5 showcase with excellent visuals and solid gameplay variety, but the story is emotionally hollow, combat becomes repetitive, and enemy variety is severely lacking. It's polished and fun but compared to Doom Eternal, it feels formulaic and underwhelming.
A next-generation showcase with stunning visuals, excellent platforming, and creative weapon design. One of the generation's best exclusive games.
Stellar PS5 showcase with outstanding visuals, animation, and storytelling that fully justifies the hardware, despite some pre-patch bugs.
A dazzling, stellar action game with deliriously satisfying combat, varied planets, and hours of engaging gameplay that everyone should buy.
A generally inoffensive but unambitious entry that sticks reliably to the long-running formula of rail grinding, box smashing, and pew-pew combat, with a welcome quick-dodge button as its main new addition. The dimension-hopping What If premise and new character Rivet are squandered since she plays identically to Ratchet and even shares his gadgets. The flimsy, underpopulated world and bland, flustered-archetype characters keep it from rising above pleasant but forgettable.
An exceptional, refined entry that doesn't reinvent the series but polishes it to a high shine, with varied and rewarding exploration, satisfying weaponry, and slick rift-based traversal showcasing the PS5's SSD and DualSense. Newcomer Rivet is instantly relatable and the planet-swapping Blizar Prime is a standout. The frequent need to pause and swap among more than four weapons mid-fight is a distracting interruption, and Ratchet and Rivet feel identical to play.

The only complaint is wishing there was more game to play, though the 21-hour journey felt empowering and never boring.”
