An excellent return to the series with clever writing, thoughtful puzzle design, and a joyful tone that respects the franchise legacy while streamlining the experience for modern audiences.
Our analysis
Return to Monkey Island draws on fan passion for Ron Gilbert's first two games with a fresh art style, a new interface, sharp writing and excellent voice work. On Switch it adds direct joystick and touch controls plus casual and hardcore difficulty options, and newcomers can enjoy it too.
Our analysis
Ron Gilbert returns to form with a sharp, funny, mechanically satisfying adventure. Fair score for a near-masterpiece.
