8 of 8Visually stunning with exceptional sound design and compelling narrative. Basic combat.
Industry-leading photo-realism with UE5. Successfully achieves 60fps on consoles.
A masterful, presentation-driven work of art whose visuals, cinematography, and sound design rank among the best ever seen, elevated by a deeply character-focused story exploring Senua's psychosis. Combat and puzzles are competent but simple and rudimentary, serving the experience rather than driving it. The lean seven-hour, highly linear journey is meticulously crafted, though some may find the runtime and abrupt ending hard to justify at the price.
A worthy but familiar follow-up carried by incredible visuals and a legendary performance from Melina Jurgens. The visceral combat is an improvement, but a lack of enemy variety, one-enemy wave-based arenas, and puzzles that largely solve themselves make exploration and fights feel repetitive. It plays safe and plods along despite a short runtime, holding it back from the greatness of its predecessor.
Stunning visuals but limited gameplay depth makes it hard to recommend at full price.
Visually stunning with exceptional motion capture but shallow gameplay and muddled narrative; cinematic spectacle over substance.
An excellent game with phenomenal visuals, strong acting, and good character dynamics, but hampered by slow pacing, laborious puzzles, and excessive walking sequences that break the experience.

“Hellblade 2 is a fundamentally flawed game that prioritizes audiovisual presentation over gameplay, featuring a completely linear experience with minimal level design, tediously slow character movement, repetitive combat, and boring puzzles that fail to engage the player.”

“A visually stunning and atmospherically rich narrative experience with impressive sound design and storytelling that explores Norse mythology, but fundamentally disappointment in gameplay depth—the sequel remains largely an interactive movie with minimal mechanics, repetitive puzzles, and simplified combat compared to its predecessor.”
