  Our analysis

A solid platformer that offers a fresh take on the franchise with tight controls and exceptional music, though poor enemy placement and frustrating boss design occasionally break the experience. Despite imperfections, the good outweighs the bad and it remains worth playing 15 years later.

  Our analysis

Johnny's favorite of the trilogy, praising the exhilarating speed mechanics and excellent soundtrack, though he criticizes the counterintuitive chaos emerald collection system that forces unintended playstyle.
