A standout zombie-survival sandbox where deeply intertwined systems — resource gathering, base upgrades, emotional caretaking of survivors, and permadeath leadership decisions — create rare emotional resonance and near-limitless replayability across the base game plus the Breakdown and Lifeline expansions. The aging engine drags it down with frequent FPS drops, stutter, and glitches, and vehicles control unpredictably. Even so, the fantastic gameplay easily trumps the technical flaws, making it a clear buy and a complete blast.
