Our analysis

A welcome return to the series' classic board-game roots after the divisive car-based entries, bringing back strategy, betrayal and the race for stars. Fun minigames, character-specific dice blocks, charming presentation and easy out-of-the-box two-player support are highlights. It is held back by only four boards that are noticeably smaller, a reduced turn limit, limited online play, and the inability to use a Pro Controller, but it is the best Mario Party in years.
