Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD

Our analysis

Swapping the Wii's wonky tilt controls for the analog stick restores the precision that makes this arcade game of risk and reward genuinely compelling, and it runs as a sharp, cheery technical port. But it drags along unwanted baggage: sluggish bosses that clash with the speed focus, baffling leaderboard decisions, and a thin set of lackluster minigames. The best Super Monkey Ball in years, yet not the return to the series' heyday fans hoped for.
