A gorgeous hand-drawn remaster of the 1989 arcade platformer, praised for its beautiful redrawn backgrounds, charming characters, standout bosses, tight responsive controls, and a satisfying infinite-shooting mechanic. At heart it remains a tough, old-school arcade game with one-hit deaths and a fair share of cheap, unavoidable deaths, though forgiving checkpoints soften the sting.
