Tomb Raider IV•V•VI Remastered

A heartfelt remaster bundle of the final three Core Design entries (The Last Revelation, Chronicles, and Angel of Darkness) that, while not all-time classics, are well worth preserving. The Last Revelation shines with its Egypt-set tomb design, Chronicles is a disjointed but oddly charming anthology, and the once-maligned Angel of Darkness becomes far more playable and fascinating with the new modern controls, even if it still feels sluggish. The remasters add reworked visuals, photo mode, and a toggle to original graphics, though scenes can run very dark.

A collection where only one of the three games, The Last Revelation, is a genuine classic, marking the high point Core Design intended as a series finale. Chronicles is a disjointed anthology hampered by lackluster level design and weak storytelling, while Angel of Darkness remains a baffling, misguided misfire despite minor control fixes. The added 60fps option for the original visuals is very welcome, but the release is recommended mainly as a curiosity rather than essential.

A worthwhile preservation of the last three Core Design adventures, with massively reworked visuals, new lighting, modern control options, restored bonus content, and a photo mode running at 60fps. The modern controls make even the once-maligned Angel of Darkness far more playable, though the games remain dated and similar. It suffers from genuinely punishing darkness with no brightness or gamma slider, plus clunky camera angles and a few audio quirks and bugs, but offers reasonable value for fans.
