7 of 7Pinnacle of cinematic game design seamlessly blending gameplay with narrative like a blockbuster movie.
One of the best games ever made, with traversal that goes far beyond climbing thanks to the grappling hook and sliding mechanics, surprisingly excellent vehicle handling, and a gradual, unconventional pacing that builds toward thrilling action. Its real standout is uncompromised, show-don't-tell storytelling that sets character motivations against each other and culminates in a deeply fulfilling ending. The climbing remains the weakest element, though even that shows remarkable craft.
The series finale shifts focus onto Nathan Drake the character rather than the adventure, which is a mistake given how grating his constant quipping and poor communication are, and a retconned long-lost brother feels strained. It takes a long time to get going and runs overlong, and the linear climbing, gunfights, and puzzles feel like the series repeating itself. Still polished and hard to dislike outright, with a conclusive ending.
Fextralife calls Uncharted 4 a potential GOTY — emotional thrill ride that grabs and never lets go. Multiplayer is deep with thousands of gear combinations, fast 10-minute matches, run-and-gun combat, strategic team play. Buy this game if you have not played.
AJ rates this 9 out of 10 with badass seal of approval, calling it a polished masterpiece and system seller.
Strong character-driven story with refined gameplay, excellent set pieces, improved puzzles. Rope swinging feels great. Stealth basic but functional.

“A middling experience that prioritizes cinematic presentation over gameplay, resulting in excessive padding with platforming and puzzles, unsatisfying combat, and a story that did not need to be told with a plot-convenience brother character.”
Watch The Completionist😐 mixed
“The main campaign is an exceptional, grounded narrative-driven experience with outstanding performances and storytelling, but the online multiplayer and completion content undermines those qualities with excessive microtransactions and a slogfest of unlockables that feels detached from the game's core vision.”
