The Ming Dynasty story is serviceable if a bit surface-level, and forgiving touches like losing only half your currency on death help. Its main weaknesses are dramatic difficulty spikes that frustrate rather than empower, notable disparities between weapons, and a derivative reliance on its inspirations, but the satisfying highs make it easy to recommend to genre fans.
