One of the best-looking 2019 games with stunning graphics and dark medieval atmosphere.
Our analysis
A Plague Tale: Innocence is a positive game with interesting mechanics and well-crafted systems.
Our analysis
Gorgeous and immersive, with a genuinely good story, strong character development with young Hugo and brilliantly unnerving rats. But combat, stealth against robotic guards and pre-marked puzzles are weak, earning a middle thumb: worth it only if you are purely in it for the story.
Our analysis
A story-focused action-adventure set in 14th-century France, casting fragile young Amicia escorting her sickly brother Hugo through rat-plagued, Inquisition-hunted territory. It is functional with enough variety in stealth, action, and fire-and-light puzzles to avoid being one-note, and the rendering of vast rat swarms is genuinely impressive. But it feels uninspired and unfocused, with frequent instant deaths and awkwardly spaced checkpoints that sap the horror tension, plus a story that loses its way midway through.
