Our analysis

The most streamlined and enjoyable entry in the series, pairing a deep, well-built turn-based tactical core with absurdly intricate meta-management systems built for hundreds of hours of min-maxing. New quality-of-life features like the Demonic Intelligence auto-battle programming cut the grind dramatically, and the goofy over-the-top humor keeps the tone light. Poor performance is the major flaw, with no display mode balancing sharpness and frame rate, but it remains an excellent and easy recommendation.

Our analysis

A standout entry in the SRPG series, elevated by slick, genuinely funny writing and the standout dynamic between zombie protagonist Zed and his dog. The new fully 3D combat adds tactical depth and quality-of-life auto-battle programming, though restrictive camera control and fiddly unit selection grate. The Switch version's rough 3D visuals and inconsistent frame rate disappoint, but excellent voice acting and a strong soundtrack carry it; a premium price means series fans benefit most.
