Our analysis

A wait-for-sale Dark Souls-like that is gorgeous and addictive at its core, with phenomenal sound, soundtrack-worthy music, weighty tactile combat, and deeply rewarding weapon, armor, and rune upgrade systems. It is dragged down hard, though, by erratic enemy AI that randomly freezes, maze-like cut-and-paste level design, a near-useless shield that pushes you to just roll, an abysmal camera, and several crashes on PC. An interesting, endearing game held back by a wicked number of problems.

Our analysis

ZP: heavy Dark Souls imitation; worse execution.

    Our analysis

A serviceable but joyless souls-like that takes ideas from Dark Souls without the finesse, level design, boss inspiration, or balanced combat that make the original special. While commercially successful, the game is a shoddy imitator that lacks its own identity and distinctive hook.
