Marvel's Avengers

A superhero looter-shooter with fun, satisfying character abilities and combat, but undercut by repetitive mission design, drab environments, weak AI companions, and aggressive monetization. The story lands better than expected, yet the endgame loop lacks variety and grows tiresome.

A licensed superhero game that squanders its blockbuster pedigree with dull, repetitive missions, gear that has no perceivable impact, and lifeless AI teammates that leave you feeling alone. Live-service grind mechanics and an over-reliance on a single forced protagonist keep you from actually playing as the Avengers you came for, and the whole experience grows tedious fast.

A repetitive, grind-heavy live-service game that wears out its welcome fast. Combat is spammy and reflex-based rather than skillful, boss fights are lackluster, and it's absolutely fraught with bugs from frame-rate issues to crashes and stuck geometry. Gear is invisible with negligible stat increments while real cosmetics sit behind paywalls, and the endgame recycles the same mobs, maps and missions endlessly. The cringe-filled, movie-style story only appeals to fans of the films.

Square Enix's superhero brawler starts promisingly with linear, story-focused missions and colorful boss fights, but soon collapses into an insidious live-service grind. The interface is buried under bloated gear menus and a dizzying tangle of currencies, with copy-pasted side objectives and repetitive sandbox missions clearly engineered to manufacture artificial desire. Combat is inoffensive but glitchy, and the whole thing feels less designed to engage than to occupy headspace and hard-drive space.

Gameranx: Spider-Man is a decent conversion but the swinging feels stiff vs the Insomniac game; not a worthwhile purchase unless on deep discount.

Disjointed game split between an emotionally engaging single-player campaign and a less focused live-service multiplayer. Good character moments and combat depth undermined by tech issues and unfocused design.
