A swaggering third entry with fantastic moments, slicker and more enjoyable combat than ever, diverse boss battles running at a near-60fps, a twisty compelling narrative, and trademark hyper-stylized presentation. It is held back by repetitive open-world filler, tedious grindy side jobs, and visuals that turn sludgy in handheld mode. The joke is wearing thin and it falls short of the series' origins, but fans will be satisfied and it remains worth experiencing.

John Carson appreciates the eccentric style, humor, and fun boss battles, but the dull open world with poor performance and lack of character progression for Travis hold it back from being great.

No More Heroes 3 features the tightest combat in the series and unique, creative boss designs filtered through Suda51's distinctive punk-rock style, though convoluted plot, poor overworld graphics, excessive grinding mechanics, and menuing frustrations detract from the experience.
