At its best, the series carved out the niche of the anti-GTA — a pure, daft open-world crime sim full of over-the-top set pieces, larger-than-life characters, and cartoonish violence, with Saints Row 3 the signature high point. The 2022 reboot is the low, badly misjudging its core audience with try-hard Gen Z caricatures and no good jokes, a bland soup of mid-2000s design that bombed and sank a beloved studio.
