Scarlet Nexus

A terribly generic anime action RPG that hits every checklist trope, from waifu-laden party members to padded pace-killing bonding sessions. The psychokinetic combat of flinging scenery alongside a sword is undercut by imprecise control over what gets thrown, clunky double-tap menu navigation, and enemies whose telegraphs are hard to read. Redeeming touches include the inventive, abstract monster designs and a few genuinely bananas plot curveballs.

Scarlet Nexus is a summer surprise RPG with excellent stylish combat that feels engaging and meaty. While the story and characters have some issues, the overall package with its brain punk aesthetic and fluid combat system is impressive and highly recommended.
