2 of 2The Switch 2 version is a smoother, faster, better-looking take on the same game, hitting around 1440p/60fps docked and 1080p/60fps handheld with a much cleaner image than the underwhelming original Switch release. The crossworld portal-warping track system and well-designed, customizable carts keep the racing fresh, though four-player split screen drops to 30fps where a lower resolution at 60 would have been preferable. A genuine game card physical release and full crossplay make it easy to recommend.
A solid arcade cart racer that stands out from Mario Kart through massive depth and customization, with the standout CrossWorlds mechanic warping racers between worlds mid-track for unpredictable, dynamic races. Transforming car/boat/plane vehicles, flexible gadget and gear-plate builds, and top-notch, varied course design reward experimentation. Downsides include awkward base handling with harsh wall-collision slowdown, too many near-uncounterable items, fuzzy world-transition visuals, and fairly no-frills online offerings.
