10 of 10Solid Dark Souls-like combat with Star Wars skin. Fun but highly derivative and linear.
Competent Star Wars experience playing it safe by borrowing from Dark Souls, Uncharted, and Metroid.
An imperfect game whose individual pieces are merely average, but which becomes irresistible for Star Wars fans thanks to superb environment design, a lovable crew, and unrestrained adventure set pieces that nail the franchise feeling. Movement and traversal underwhelm, the Metroidvania level design never fully evolves, and Sekiro-inspired combat suffers from animation-led imprecision and a poise meter that refills too easily.
A long-awaited Jedi game that ultimately disappoints, playing more like Tomb Raider than Dark Forces or Jedi Academy. It looks and sounds fantastic with stellar Star Wars audio and a charming droid companion, and the brutal, Souls-like combat delivers genuine moments of satisfaction. But it is held back by poor PC performance, a weak story, only three Force powers that grow repetitive, and theme-park-style level design with ice slides and trampoline plants that break immersion. Still a thumbs up overall.
Fantastic early gameplay marred by tedious backtracking and weak narrative. Solid combat undermined by fundamental design problems.
Underrated Star Wars game with excellent lightsaber combat, rewarding exploration, and a strong story that fits well into the post-Mandalorian Star Wars canon — 'one of the best Star Wars games in recent memory'.
Excellent lightsaber duels and world environments held back by a generic forgettable story and a by-the-numbers feel; wait for a sale.
Before You Buy: solid single-player Star Wars with great characters; respawn in top form.
AJ Angry Review: beautiful visuals and great characters with compelling story; technical issues and limited Force powers hold it back.

“The best Star Wars game in 10 years, but a deeply flawed experience that plays it safe by copying mechanics from better games (Sekiro, Dark Souls, Uncharted, Breath of the Wild) without adding innovation or polish, resulting in poor world design, weak AI, simplistic puzzles, and an unfinished feel.”
