Our analysis
A confident, thoughtful do-over that finally delivers on the original's promise. Tighter, far more responsive controls, fast travel, a map, doubled page counts, and a generous collectible economy smooth out the traversal and pacing that caused players to bounce off Yooka-Laylee, while a lush orchestral soundtrack adds polish. It is dragged down somewhat by a disappointing 30fps cap and a handful of bugs including a hard crash, but it is a clear improvement worth playing even for those who finished the original.
