An exhilarating, self-aware hack-and-slash in the vein of Devil May Cry, with fast-paced combat full of combos and torture attacks where nearly every fight feels like an insane boss battle. The Switch version looks cleaner with richer shadows and brighter colors, runs at 60fps with much faster loading, and adds portability, making it worth a repurchase for fans who crave it. The gameplay is so strong it overshadows the first game's preferred story, though the full $60 price for a re-release bundled with the original is a tough pill.
