A heartwarming, well-paced narrative carried by a fantastic cast, a dense and varied Overworld, the strategic pep-power combat, and a transcendent orchestral soundtrack make it unforgettable, further enriched by a fully fledged 16-bit 2D mode. Only minor performance dips and a low base difficulty hold it back.
