Revisiting this game years later, it falls short of its all-time perfect-ten reputation despite remaining far from bad. The atmospheric, signature look of Liberty City still impresses and the heavy collision physics stay entertaining, but the driving feels slippery with sharply reduced turning radius, the cover shooting and weapon-swapping are sluggish, and the rigidly linear, movie-like missions feel restrictive and disconnected from the open world.
