A roguelike dungeon crawler where you play Zagreus escaping the underworld, and it is utterly addictive with that "one more run" hook. The combat is superbly designed, with weapons and god-granted boons combining into endless build variety, persistent mirror upgrades that keep each death meaningful, and memorable bosses who remember and react to your runs. Even the isometric, fast-paced style the reviewer normally dislikes can't dampen how good it is; it sets the bar for indie games.

What truly sets it apart is the superbly written, fully voiced narrative woven into every run, making the House of Hades downtime a joy. The handheld experience runs smoothly and looks stunning.
