Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak

Ground-based Homeworld prequel with strong art direction. Simplified from 3D space combat.

A desert-set RTS prequel that looks great and sounds excellent, with satisfying buggy units and gloriously effective turrets. However, it is badly unoptimized, demanding far more hardware than its visuals justify, and the gameplay is bog-standard and dated, leaning on line-of-sight and elevation tricks other RTS games did years earlier. An awkward shoehorned command structure and arbitrary salvage restrictions make it feel more like a mod than a polished Homeworld title.
