Mortal Kombat X looks incredible on new hardware, and its deep roster, three distinct styles per fighter and excellent sound give it great longevity. The netcode is the big flaw, with only about half of online matches running well, but it remains solidly worth buying.
Our analysis
Mortal Kombat X on PC plays the same 2D fighting game it was in 1991; its story, tower and faction modes all boil down to the same fights, it sells a microtransaction to simplify fatalities, and the PC port is badly optimized and full of memory leaks.
Our analysis
Mortal Kombat X's story is undermined by contrived fights and resurrection that erases its stakes. The reviewer enjoys brutalities but criticizes fatalities, faction mechanics and paid easy fatalities.
Our analysis
A fantastic, polished fighting game with updated visuals, new fighters, fighter variations and tons of content. It is held back by a short, disappointing story mode, aggressive microtransactions and a disastrous PC port.
