A deeply rewarding immersive sim and spiritual System Shock successor, with the best-in-class level design and emergent gameplay that gives nearly every room multiple solutions informed by powers, stealth, and approach. The shape-shifting Mimic enemies are a brilliant standout. It falters with overly familiar Art Deco styling, underwhelming non-Mimic enemies, and an end-game flood of high-HP foes that erodes the carefully built tension, leaving it polished but not quite groundbreaking.
