10 of 10Solid co-op shooter with procedural generation that works well. Great boss design and sound, but bugs and optimization issues warrant waiting for a sale.
A satisfying co-op action-RPG shooter with responsive gameplay and interesting weapon mods, though dynamic generation feels hit-or-miss and solo balance issues persist.
Remnant: From The Ashes is a positive game with interesting mechanics and well-crafted systems.
A hard, unforgiving Souls-like shooter that is ultimately a great fun, blast-of-a-co-op experience worth buying. Its strengths are excellent meaty gunplay where enemies stagger and reel under fire, a deep mod and perk system, and tense run-out-of-ammo survival moments. Weaknesses include a forgettable story, too-clean early environments, broken-feeling solo progression that punishes a single weapon choice, and a frustrating melee design that prevents shooting from the hip.
An exceptional example of value, this third-person loot-based shooter uses procedural generation to deliver strong replayability and deeply individualized character progression through traits, mods, and weapons, with engaging boss fights and impactful choices. Glitchy, sometimes broken boss mechanics, an awkward console control scheme tying melee to the fire button, and reliance on infinite trash-mob spawns hold it back, but it still earns a confident 8 out of 10.
Solid action game that does everything well without pushing boundaries. Excellent Switch port with stable 30+ fps (17/20 visuals). Enjoyable gameplay loop (18/20) with accessible ranged-melee hybrid combat. Controls responsive (16/20). Good audio implementation with excellent atmospheric design (16/20). Includes DLC (Swamps, Subject 2923, Dreamers). ~15-20 hour campaign with high replayability. Good value.
No-brainer DLC for fans with improved boss design, new playstyles, and 10 hours of content at cheap price.
Dark Souls with guns done accessibly; great combat, fun crafted weapons, painless co-op. At $40, no good reason not to pick it up.
Before You Buy: solid souls-like looter shooter with engaging co-op; dynamic maps lack memorability.
