Darksiders III

A visually striking action-adventure with strong model design, color, lighting, good sound and voice work, and combat that can be tight and rewarding, with standout underwater levels. It is dragged down by uneven level design, shallow and overly numerous puzzles, weak exploration with poorly signposted platforming, no enemy collision detection in group fights, and frequent technical issues and crashes. A wait-for-a-sale pick with real fan service but noticeable design regressions from the prior games.

An enjoyable budget action game that achieves its modest goals, with first-class enemy design, satisfying combat animations, and genuinely fun environmental puzzles. It is held back by a bland, underwhelming story that wastes the franchise's lore, plain environments, and a terrible, claustrophobic camera. Worth playing for genre fans, though it lacks the x-factor to elevate it beyond solid, and its full price invites unfair comparisons.
