Our analysis

A long, varied RPG with a solid story, fantastic atmospheric music and mostly good voice work, undercut by clumsy combat, poor enemy AI, a camera you fight constantly and dated 360 visuals with no anti-aliasing. Worth picking up at a reduced price, not full price.

Our analysis

A lazy expansion-pack sequel that recycles its islands from Risen 2, merely flipping them around so they're explored from the opposite direction. The questing is monotone, padded out by a dense population of samey NPCs and an over-divided skill system, while combat only clicks after acquiring a counterattack move that should have been standard. It has a spark of life that dies by drawing itself out too long.
