Our analysis

A blast and a worthy sequel: the best-looking Gears, with masterful sound, a well-paced 8-plus-hour campaign, excellent voice acting and the deepest systems in the series across co-op, versus and a class-based Horde mode, though new hero JD and the story fall flat next to the Old Guard.

Our analysis

Mack calls Gears of War 4 on PC a linear, almost on-rails cover shooter where you mostly hide behind barricades and shoot. He calls the $60 price deluded, not even worth 20 pounds, and says it is not worth buying.

Our analysis

Gears of War 4 leaves the reviewer bored by its largely unchanged combat, forgettable campaign and lifeless dialogue. Returning characters and brief tower-defense sections fail to freshen the formula.

Our analysis

A surprisingly fun return: a smaller, personal campaign about family with good pacing, refined familiar shooting, new weapons like the Dropshot and new enemy types, plus 60fps versus multiplayer and Horde 3.0. JD is generic, and paid card packs may bother some.
