Exceptional attention to detail with outstanding rain effects and refined stealth mechanics.

The original Metal Gear Solid is included as a PS1 emulation effort, now updated to patch 1.5. Improvements include a toggleable bilinear blur filter for a crisper picture, new scaling and scan line options, and the welcome return of full 360-degree analog movement. However, it remains anchored to the PS1's original 240p resolution and 30 FPS, plays it very safe, and suffers a lingering hint of input lag.

Superb gameplay in an extremely short prologue; inexcusable $40 price for 1-3 hours of content sets bad precedent.

Outstanding stealth gameplay with new open-ended approach. Refined controls, challenging AI, deep customization. Story thinner than previous MGS but still engaging.
