6 of 6An extensive and thoughtful remake that is the best way to experience this modern RPG classic, with a streamlined daytime/nighttime loop, likable and fleshed-out cast, and slick presentation backed by a series-best soundtrack. Drawbacks include the repetitious Tartarus dungeon crawling, a locked 30fps performance on Switch 2, and the absence of FES and Portable content that keeps it from being the definitive version.
A faithful, full ground-up remake of the fan-favorite RPG with reworked social systems, full voice acting, 3D town environments, and quality-of-life additions like auto-save and quick travel. The turn-based combat is fun and well-balanced, the style and music are striking, and there is a huge amount of content. The main drawback is a very slow start and repetitive procedurally generated dungeons, but it is well worth persevering.
A complete overhaul that stands as the best way to experience Persona 3, with beautiful new visuals, a strong updated voice cast and soundtrack, a handy rewind feature, and excellent new combat mechanics like Shift and Theurgy that make battles snappy and rewarding. The thoughtful, mature narrative shines, though Tartarus still feels bland and repetitive and the new mechanics make many fights easier; it also omits some extras from past versions.
An excellent remake of one of the most influential RPGs of the PS2 era, with top-notch presentation, standout graphic design, and a fantastic, streamlined combat system. The Tartarus dungeon still grows repetitive and samey, and it controversially omits features from earlier versions like The Answer epilogue and the female protagonist route. Even so, it is likely the best version of Persona 3 available, especially for returning players.
A faithful remake that is the greatest way to experience Persona 3's emotionally resonant story of love, loss, and mortality. Brilliantly restrategized combat with new shifting and theurgy systems, improved visuals rivaling Persona 5, and spectacular voice acting elevate the package. While it adds little new content and may disappoint those wanting a transformative experience, it remains extremely worthwhile for repeat players and newcomers alike.
A sensational remake with excellent combat, stylish presentation, and fantastic soundtrack. The least fleshed out cast and overwhelming dungeon compared to other modern Persona entries, but still one of the best games you'll play all year.
