2 of 2A still-enjoyable JRPG with an engrossing, darker-toned story and a well-balanced day/night gameplay loop blending life sim with dungeon crawling. However, it is easily the most skippable mainline Persona on Switch: Tartarus's repetitive procedurally generated floors, the stripped-down visual-novel presentation, dated persona fusion lacking manual skill inheritance, and missing FES content hold it back. Best appreciated by series fans after playing Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal.
An exceptional JRPG that ties together a meticulous turn-based combat system, excellent group-based social links, and a brilliant, slow-burning story about the mysterious Dark Hour. Collecting and fusing nearly 200 Personas stays compelling, though the randomized Tartarus tower can feel repetitive and the stretched JPEG backgrounds show their age on a big screen. At $20 for 70-100+ hours, it is incredible value.
