Solid 3D fighting RPG capturing anime aesthetic well. Dated world design in exploration areas.
Our analysis
Disappointing adaptation wasting iconic DBZ aesthetic with monotonous repetitive gameplay.
Our analysis
Epic battles and great cutscenes deliver fan service but RPG mechanics feel shallow and underdeveloped.
Our analysis
An alright action-RPG that grows on you, with high highs in its faithful, cinematic retelling of the classic DBZ sagas and gorgeous recreations of locations like Namek and West City. Combat is exciting in motion but flirts with repetitive button-mashing, and the open-world busywork, simplistic side quests, and lackluster community-board RPG systems drag. Big fans reliving the story will get the most out of it across a lengthy 40-plus hours.
Our analysis
A long-wished-for open-world DBZ RPG that mega-fans will love, with fun if simplistic combat, impressive and great-looking boss fights, accurate fan-service characters, and excellent voice acting from original actors. It is dragged down by retreading the over-told Saiyan-to-Buu sagas, an awkward camera, repetitive open-world enemies, near-worthless fetch side quests with paltry rewards, weak textures, frequent loading, glitches, and largely unvoiced dialogue. A solid but slightly-above-average effort that needed to be better in 2020.
Our analysis
Easy Allies: solid franchise entry; enjoyable adventure despite repetitive combat and dull side quests.
