A fantastic beat 'em up that holds up brilliantly over a decade on, balancing authentic arcade difficulty and enemy density with RPG-lite leveling and stat growth. The frenetic, fluid combat and excellent boss battles shine, backed by gorgeous pixel art and a sublime chiptune soundtrack. Minor gripes: occasionally stiff running and jumping, and the unnecessary Ubisoft account requirement for online co-op.
