11 of 11Valhalla impresses with excellent story structure, location design, music, and a fresh settlement system. However subpar combat mechanics, poor weapon impact, animation issues, and bugs significantly undermine the experience.
Open-world RPG with exceptionally strong 50+ hour campaign and compelling storytelling.
Genuinely fun at first thanks to a strong, flexible perk tree and enjoyable Viking abilities, set against a nicely realized Dark Ages England. It is dragged down by being a hugely bloated 60-hour grind that should have been half the length, combat that is far too casual and easy, microtransaction-friendly upgrade materials, and a game riddled with bugs. Enjoyable in stretches but ultimately repetitive and overlong.
I'm angry I wasted so much time on Assassin's Creed Valhalla offers a solid experience worth playing for most players.
Best in the series. Strong RPG implementation, engaging story with impactful choices, excellent world design, and rewarding progression loop.
Balances classic AC gameplay with refined RPG mechanics; less bloated than Odyssey.
Massive adventure with gorgeous environments and engaging stories despite bloated length.
Beautiful Viking setting but bloated with dull regional conquests; disconnected combat with technical issues.
Strong open-world adventure with good pacing once it hits stride. Rewarding exploration, engaging combat. Eivor's story shines.
